MC Manual Service Disconnect (MC MSD)
The Excel|mate MC Manual Service Disconnect (MC MSD) series is the ideal choice when it comes to the safe and efficient disconnection of high-voltage batteries. As the smallest and most cost-effective variant in the MSD series, the MC MSD offers comparable specifications to the MINI MSD, but is available in an even more compact version. Thanks to its small size, the MC MSD is perfect for applications with limited installation space.
The MC MSD allows high-voltage battery packs to be disconnected from the electrical system quickly and safely - without any tools. A two-stage lever provides additional safety and enables the use of different fuses to prevent short circuits. The MC MSD is designed both for energy storage systems and for use in data centres.

Frequently Asked Questions
HVIL, or High Voltage Interlock, is a safety feature of hybrid and all-electric vehicles that protects people during the assembly, repair, maintenance and use of a vehicle. The HVIL system is designed to protect anyone who may come into contact with high-voltage components throughout the lifecycle of an electric vehicle.
HVIL acts as a type of circuit breaker that sends a warning or error message to the driver if a high-voltage connection becomes loose, disconnected or damaged while the vehicle is in operation. HVIL also helps to protect the driver and occupants of a vehicle in the event of an accident. It is possible to order Amphenol Tuchel Industrial's EV connectors with or without HVIL.
Mechanical coding of connectors is a method of ensuring that connectors can only be connected to each other in a specific way. This is particularly important in applications where there are several connectors with different functions or connections in order to avoid mix-ups or incorrect connections.
The advantages of mechanical coding are manifold. It reduces the risk of misconnections, minimizes the likelihood of damage to equipment due to incorrect connections and improves overall system reliability. At Amphenol Tuchel Industrial, the EV connectors (except the MSD series) are mechanically keyed.
