Applications in the Field of Antenna Technology

Discover the area of antenna technology, where we present a variety of applications and solutions. Find out more about our products and their use in wireless communication and signal transmission.

Our AISG connectors are an integral part of the Remote Electrical Tilt (RET) system of mobile radio antennas. RET is an innovative system that allows mobile operators to remotely adjust the orientation of antenna beams to optimize mobile network performance and coverage. This is done by changing the electrical tilt angle of the antenna without the need for physical adjustments to the antenna on site.

Our connectors play a crucial role by providing the necessary data and power for the RET system. They enable reliable and stable transmission of control commands and power signals between the control unit and the antenna. Their outstanding environmental resistance, including UV resistance and water resistance up to IP69K, makes them ideal for use on the antenna, which is exposed to a wide range of weather conditions at high altitudes.

Our connectors provide a robust and reliable connection, even in extreme circumstances, helping to maximize the efficiency and performance of the RET system. By remotely controlling the tilt angle of the antenna beams, mobile operators can respond quickly and accurately to changing traffic needs, optimize network coverage and improve service quality.

Amphenol Tuchel Industrial is a member of the AISG Group and has taken the lead in developing the C485 specification, which ensures connector compatibility. Our connectors naturally comply with this standard. "

The base stations, located at the base of the cell tower, act as a central monitoring point where all information from the individual antenna components converges. These base stations play a crucial role in controlling and monitoring the tower top equipment, also known as sub-units, which includes remote electrical tilt (RET) antennas, tower amplifiers and a variety of sensors.

For the connection and communication between the base stations and the tower top equipment, signal|mate D-series connectors are used, which fulfill the so-called AISG standard. The Antenna Interface Standards Group (AISG) develops and maintains standards for the control and monitoring interface between a base station and various tower top equipment.

To make sensible and sustainable use of the existing antenna infrastructure, it is crucial that different mobile network providers can share a single antenna. The providers can connect to these antennas via antenna nodes and adapt the remote electrical tilt system accordingly, for example. This not only significantly reduces the number of antennas and locations required, but also minimizes costs. The common interface for this is the AISG standard, which is fulfilled by the signal|mate series. This series enables the transmission of signals so that several operators can use the antenna.

Intelligent cooling systems are indispensable in unmanned base stations where various devices have to work efficiently under continuous load. Fans provide constant cooling of the antennas by means of air cooling to optimize performance.

A key component for the effective functioning of these cooling systems are the AISG connectors, which ensure a reliable supply of power and signals to the devices. These mostly customized "FanConnectors" enable seamless communication between the various components of the base station and ensure that the devices can operate reliably even under extreme conditions.

The warning system, which can detect various forms of performance degradation and report them to the base station, is an important component for reliable mobile networks. These systems are designed to detect any conditions that could affect the performance of the antenna and the cellular network, whether due to electrical interference or misalignment of the antenna. Given the exposure of antennas to the elements at high altitudes, especially after storms or heavy rainfall, reliable warning of potential problems is essential. Our signal|mate series provides the reliable connectors with AISG interface needed to withstand harsh environmental conditions and reliably transmit the warning system data to the base station to ensure interference-free communication.
